Paul Gauguin Cruises Wikipedia

In fact, we have brought 250,000 travelers to this wonderfully unique destination, contributing more than $26 million annually to the development and economy of these islands. When we travel, we unwittingly weave a rich tapestry of our encounters and experiences, and so often it is the people we meet that star in those stories, bringing them to life with each memory. From the first introduction to Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins on board to each visit to a local market, venture to a pearling farm, or walk through a rain forest, personal connections are cultivated with the people of French Polynesia. The sharing of cultured traditions not only elevates the guest experience, but rewards the communities with a sense of pride too.

There’s a slightly more pronounced French vibe that comes through in the food, the wine and the passenger mix (although the ship is primarily full of Americans on its seven-day itineraries). The move was better for the crew, too, we’ve been told – and as a result, Paul Gauguin is a happy ship, with veteran staff that go out of their way to make your trip fun and enjoyable, never stuffy. Perhaps no destination sparks images of romance and tropical beauty more perfectly than French Polynesia. Yet for all its fame as a honeymoon destination, most people know little about this chain of 118 islands beyond Tahiti, Bora Bora and the over-the-water bungalows that dominate our collective imagination. With three restaurants, a luxury spa, and our own watersports marina at your fingertips, as well as an attentive staff of 217, rest assured that your stay aboard The Gauguin is everything you want it to be and more. Unique to Paul Gauguin Cruises, our troupe of cultural ambassadors—Les Gauguines (female) and Les Gauguins (male)—are local Tahitians who live aboard ship as hosts and entertainers, proud to share their culture and history with guests.

The m/s Paul Gauguin is one of the most highly awarded luxury cruise ships in the world, regularly receiving top honors for superb luxury, quality, service, itineraries and value. We did some excursions which were pricy but everything on the islands is pricy. We felt the cruise was a way to save money over hotels on each island.

We did not pre book these and found a few already sold out. Seemed the very high activity ones sold out, but not sure about that. Everyone on the islands who we interacted with spoke English of some sort. Knowing French would add to the enjoyment of being able to interact with the locals who were not connected to the tourist part of the islands. Time at the private beaches were a "lazing in paradise experience".I know we read this from other reviews and we have to agree, the crew so adds to what makes this experience so enjoyable.

Now we are back to MA with snow and freezing weather. When possible we would like to book for 2018 on their January/February 14 night Marquesas, Tuamotus & Society Islands. The m/s Paul Gauguin also offers a watersports marina for kayaking, paddle boarding, and PADI SCUBA diving programs. Only on Paul Gauguin Cruises can you visit the private island of Motu Mahana (off the coast of Taha’a) where food, drink, and live music await as well as an exclusive beach retreat in Bora Bora. Our experts have carefully designed six itineraries, ranging from 7 to 14 nights. All the unmissable spots such as Tahiti, Huahine, Taha’a, Bora Bora and Moorea are right at the heart of the m/s Paul Gauguin's cruise itineraries.

Paul Gauguin attracts an international passenger base, although Americans, Canadians and French are the prime audience. On a weeklong sailing, the cruises are 75% North American and 25% French and international, we were told, with those ratios reversing when the ship makes longer sailings to the Marquesas and islands farther afield. The dining on Paul Gauguin is delicious and enticing; this is one cruise ship where caloric temptations lurk in every corner (although the restaurants do provide lighter menu options).

See all of the islands of French Polynesia - from Bora Bora to Tahiti and Papeete, Moorea, and more. Book your Paul Gauguin cruise to visit French Polynesia. See the Marquesas Islands and discover all they have to offer when you book a cruise through French Polynesia. We can also organize a real life or digital event for you and find thought leader speakers as well as industry leaders, who could be your potential partners, to join the event.

But, we felt special in our small ship that only sails the islands. With only one focus to display and explore the islands while educating us on the culture and sea life. I will start this review with the thought of kicking myself. Why didn't we sign up for the more extended cruise on Paul Gauguin to visit all the outlying islands and extend what was the trip of our life. We thought seven days of beautiful warm water would be enough, oh how wrong we were. We were only getting started and the cruise was over.

Dessert lovers won’t want to miss the teatime spread at Le Grill; it’s buffet style, as opposed a three-tiered server, but decadent nonetheless. The 165 rooms on Paul Gauguin were also given a refresh during the 2021 refurbishment, and attractive tropical pastels complement the nautical wood cabinets. There is plenty of storage for two people, thanks to smartly designed closets and drawers. Paul Gauguin Cruises operates the award-winning luxury small-ship them/s Paul Gauguin, providing an exceptional cruise experience.

The Polynesian staff serve not only as entertainers but also as the ship’s activity staff. Former Gauguines and Gauguins often come back as staff at the front desk, the excursion team and the boutique; it’s a dedication to the region that makes Paul Gauguin a treasured institution in the region. That pays off in an outstanding shore excursion program with lots of choices and the best guides. Enjoy special offers & savings direct to your inbox.
